Another harassment complaint filed against Osceola County school board member

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Another complaint of harassment has been filed against Osceola County School Board Member Jon Arguello, this time from the owner of a non-profit who volunteers in schools.

9 Investigates broke the story when the district asked the governor to decide whether Arguello should be removed after he was sanctioned for harassing a vendor who didn’t support his sister’s campaign.

Now another man has come forward saying Arguello is also harassing him.

John Kalish is known around Osceola County as “Batman.” He runs the non-profit called A Hero for Kids. Part of his volunteer work means going to schools to hand out books for students.

But Kalish said in August 2021 after a bus was donated to him by Osceola Schools, a complaint was lodged against him by Aguello.

Two days later he said an email was sent saying he could no longer be on school campuses.

Kalish was convicted in 2007 for illegally transporting multiple firearms that included an AR-15, and check forgery and grand theft in the 1980s and ‘90s.

But since then, he said he has turned his life around and now gives back through charity.

After an investigation by the district, a letter was sent allowing him to continue as a business partner in the schools in October 2021. He remains a partner today.

But in his newly filed complaint, Kalish said he still feels targeted by Arguello.

“We are on opposite sides of the fence political-wise,” Kalish said.

He wrote in his complaint, “Mr. Arguello was and continues to use his political position to harass me and my organization.”

He said this is in violation of a school board rule and said, “Arguello is engaging in further malfeasance as his actions are a clear abuse of his office.”
