• Astatula man dead in Lake County crash, troopers say

    LAKE COUNTY, Fla. - An Astatula man is dead after his pick up truck went off a roadway and struck a tree early Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

    The 26-year-old man, who troopers identified as Cody Johnson, was driving a 2008 Nissan pickup west on State Road 46 near the intersection with Colfax Avenue around 4:10 a.m. when he lost control of the truck, troopers said.

    Troopers said Johnson ran off the road and hit an electric box before overturning. 

    The roof of the pickup struck a tree, according to the crash report.

    The crash remains under investigation.
