SANFORD, Fla. — A Sanford babysitter was arrested after an infant nearly drowned in a bathtub.
According to Sanford Police, officers responded to a report of a possible infant drowning on Fox Quarry Lane Monday.
The 8-month-old boy was found unresponsive and was transported to Florida Hospital South, according to police.
Police said that Mariah Berry, 18, was babysitting, and admitted to them that she left the infant and his 2-year-old sister unattended in the bathtub for over an hour.
Berry was arrested and charged with aggravated child neglect, according to police. She was being held in the Seminole County jail on a $4,000 bond.
The infant is hospitalized in critical condition, police said.
