Stabbing suspect captured after jumping into lake, police say

ORLANDO, Fla. — Police say they’ve captured a man who stabbed two people and then tried to elude officers by hiding in a nearby lake.

Orlando police responded to reports of a cutting off San Juan Blvd. shortly after 3 a.m. Wednesday.

They said a man and a woman were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.

WFTV Reporter Q McCray arrived at the scene shortly after police and saw investigators focusing on a home about a block south of Lake Underhill Rd.

The suspect was taken into custody off nearby Santiago Ave., according to Orlando police.

Officers said they kept eyes on him and waited until he retreated from a lake he entered shortly after the stabbing.

Police haven’t shared a possible motive for the stabbing, nor have they said whether the suspect is known to the victims.

Investigators didn’t release victims’ conditions or the severity of their injuries.
