Since the start of the school year, two sites have opened up for students under quarantine.

And the demand is not only for school students and staff, residents have also felt the impact of the shortage of testing options around the county.

Delena Halavin, a Brevard County school parent, said: “it’s been very difficult to find options you know sites are not being open, only open in Orlando.”

But changes are coming, and residents will have more options for testing.

So the Florida Department of Health is looking to increase testing for all residents.

“As a matter of fact, you’ll see an announcement coming soon. we’re working with a vendor who will offer to test starting next week at our Viera location. They’ll be able to process about 100 tests per hour,” said Assistant County Health Department Director, Anita Stremmel.

The health department also has plans for a testing location in Titusville and is working closely with Brevard County Emergency Management to find locations to the south and beachside.
