BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Brevard County will begin curbside debris removal Tuesday, Nov. 10, for flood-impacted homes in unincorporated areas of Melbourne, Palm Bay, West Melbourne, Grant-Valkaria, Barefoot Bay and Malabar.
Brevard County Solid Waste Management contractors will collect bulk household materials from residents impacted by flooding.
How to separate flood debris
Residents should separate flood-related debris into two piles:
- Household waste: Furniture and mattresses
- Construction debris: Fencing, plywood, drywall, carpets and flooring
Debris piles should be kept away from trees, mailboxes, water meters and overhead wires.
Residents should not place household hazardous materials, including gasoline, paint, fertilizers and rechargeable batteries, at the curb.
Regular garbage and recycling will continue
Regular garbage and recycling collections by Waste Management will continue as usual. Vegetative waste should be placed in containers for regular pickup.
Flood-impacted residents can also take debris to the landfill at no charge.
Residents who live within a municipality should contact their local government for specific information about debris pickup.
