BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Two close Brevard County races are headed for recounts, with election officials set to begin reviewing ballots in Melbourne on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
The State Representative District 33 and Cape Canaveral City Council contests each had margins of 0.5% or less after the first unofficial results were certified, triggering machine recounts.

The recounts begin at 9 a.m. at the Election Support Center, 525 N. John Rodes Blvd. All Canvassing Board meetings are open to the public.
The Brevard County Canvassing Board ordered the Cape Canaveral recount, while Florida’s secretary of state ordered the District 33 recount, as required by state law.

“During yesterday’s Canvassing Board meeting, the Board determined a margin of 0.5% or less existed in two races, requiring a machine recount,” Brevard County Supervisor of Elections Tim Bobanic said.
If either margin is 0.25% or less after the machine recount, a manual recount will follow to review ballots recorded as blank, overvoted or undervoted in that contest.
