Update: SpaceX postpones Falcon 9 launch to Monday, will carry communications satellite

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — SpaceX is set to launch a commercial communications satellite for the Spanish company Hispasat Monday evening.

Update 5:42 p.m.

SpaceX has postponed Falcon 9 launch to 5:32 p.m. Monday because of unfavorable weather.

The forecast for Monday’s launch is 90% favorable, the company said in a Tweet.

Update 4:18 p.m.

SpaceX will now plan on a 9:32 p.m. launch.

Update 2:18 p.m.

SpaceX will now launch the Amazonas Nexus mission at 7:32 p.m. The company said it would monitor the weather.

The launch of the Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled for liftoff at 5:32 p.m. from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

The rocket is carrying Hispasat’s Amazonas Nexus satellite, which will provide “coverage over the whole American continent, the Atlantic corridors North and South (air and maritime traffic area) and Greenland, and will enable the provision of leading-edge telecommunication services in Ku-band.”

According to a news release, the first stage booster supporting this mission previously launched SES-22, ispace’s HAKUTO-R Mission 1, and three Starlink missions.

Following separation, the first stage will land on the Just Read the Instructions droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

Weather is currently 55% favorable for liftoff.
