Happening today: SpaceX launch could cause sonic booms

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — SpaceX is targeting Tuesday afternoon for its launch of the Transporter-2 mission from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

The 58-minute launch window opens at 2:56 p.m.

“This mission will launch 88 spacecraft to orbit and more customer mass than SpaceX’s previous dedicated rideshare mission,” SpaceX tweeted.

Residents in Brevard, Orange, Osceola, Indian River, Seminole, Volusia, Polk, St. Lucie and Okeechobee counties may hear one of more sonic booms during the landing.

About eight minutes after liftoff, Falcon 9′s first stage will land on SpaceX’s Landing Zone.

A backup opportunity is available Wednesday with the same 58-minute launch window.
