BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Victory Casino Cruises says a contract dispute with a shipyard has led to its vessel’s arrest in a civil admiralty proceeding, extending its dry dock stay and forcing employee furloughs.

The company, which has operated in the community for 15 years, said it is working to resolve the dispute but has no confirmed return date.

“We are currently in a contractual dispute with the shipyard and are making every attempt to resolve it as soon as possible,” the company said. “The term ‘arrest’ in this context refers to a legal process involving the vessel. It is a civil matter, not a criminal matter.”

Victory acknowledged the disruption to employees, guests and the community.

“The hardest part has been having to furlough employees,” the company said. “These are people we know and care about, with families, bills and responsibilities.”

The company also pushed back against online speculation, asking the public to consider the human impact before sharing rumors or posting hurtful remarks.

Victory said it will post confirmed updates on its official website and Facebook page.

“While we do not have a confirmed return date to announce, please know that we are making every effort to move forward,” the company said.
