BUNNELL, Fla. — The Bunnell Police Department arrested a 34-year-old man Thursday morning after he allegedly attacked a victim and snatched a necklace at a homeless campsite near the State Road 100 overpass at US-1
Ruben Boatwright faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following a search by local law enforcement officers.
Officers responded to the campsite on private property shortly after midnight following a report of a robbery and battery. Police said a man entered the camp, called the victim out of a tent, struck him in the face, and forcibly took a silver necklace before riding away on a bicycle.
BPD and Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies searched the surrounding area following the 12:01 a.m. report. Authorities located Boatwright hiding inside a home at 304 S. Anderson Drive approximately 40 minutes later and took him into custody.
During a search following the arrest, officers recovered the victim’s silver necklace from Boatwright’s pocket. Police also found a glass tube and additional drug paraphernalia containing residue that tested positive for cocaine.
Boatwright was booked into the Flagler County Inmate Facility, facing the following charges: felony robbery by sudden snatching without a weapon, misdemeanor battery, felony possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $14,500.
