3 children, 2 adults in good condition after SUV crashes into Pine Hills day care

FHP says the 79-year-old driver crossed the median and northbound lanes before striking the building

ORLANDO, Fla. — Three children and two adults are in good condition after an SUV crashed into a day care in Pine Hills on Thursday, according to Orlando Health.

The crash happened around 2:58 p.m. at Tattle Tales Learning Center, located at 1211 N. Pine Hills Road.

FHP said a 2003 Honda CR-V was traveling south in the outside lane of Pine Hills Road near Elinore Drive when the driver left the roadway for an unknown reason.

The SUV crossed the median, traveled across the northbound lanes and went onto the shoulder before crashing into the day care.

A Channel 9 photo from the scene shows the SUV fully inside the learning center after crashing through an exterior wall.

All patients in good condition

FHP identified the driver as a 79-year-old Orlando man. He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Three children were transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. An adult who was inside the day care was also taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Orlando Health said Thursday afternoon that all three pediatric patients and both adults were in good condition.

Orange County Fire Rescue initially designated one child as a trauma alert.

Pine Hills Road closed

All northbound and southbound lanes of Pine Hills Road were closed following the crash.

Images from the scene showed extensive damage to the front of the building as firefighters, deputies and troopers investigated.

FHP has not determined why the driver left the roadway.

The crash remains under investigation.
