Central Florida police warn drivers of increased car break-ins inspired by TikTok challenge

CLERMONT, Fla. — The Clermont Police Department says some residents should take extra security measures when locking up their cars.

A TikTok challenge has increased break-ins for certain Kia and Hyundai models made between 2010 and 2021.

Videos show the cars ignition can be started using common items.

The police department said residents should park their cars in a well-lit area or in a secure location.

Drivers should also install a steering wheel locking device.
