Central Floridians frustrated after COVID-19 test results delayed

ORLANDO, Fla. — Some Central Floridians said they are frustrated after their COVID-19 test results have been delayed.

On Saturday, AdventHealth announced 25,000 people who were tested for COVID-19 had unreliable results or their tests were destroyed.

Since then, many people who need test results for work or peace of mind are trying to figure out how to move forward.

Tanya Rezak, one of the people affected, said she has been battling coronavirus-like symptoms. And 12 days after she tested for the virus, she found out her results would never come.

So she found another lab and scheduled an appointment.

She said she went to Quest Diagnostics because of its assurances of a quick turnaround.

However, it’s been four days and she still doesn’t have her results.

“I’ve been waiting since May 5 for any kind of test results,” Rezak said.

With delays in receiving test results, Rezak is looking at the state’s numbers with a wary eye.

An AdventHealth spokesperson said anyone waiting on results should call 877-VIRUS-HQ.
