Couple found dead in suspected murder-suicide in Palm Bay, police say

PALM BAY, Fla. — Palm Bay detectives are investigating a suspected murder-suicide.


Officers said that at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, a 911 call was made by a woman who appeared to be in distress, asking for officers to come to her house.

Officers said when they arrived, they found the man and woman with apparent gunshot wounds.

Investigators said a 72-year-old man shot his 56-year-old girlfriend and then himself at a home on Fitchburg Street SE.

The woman died at the scene and the man was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

The couple had been together for about 11 years and lived in Palm Bay, officers said.

Officers said there was “no significant history at this residence.”

The couples identities were not released.
