Convicted cop killer Markeith Loyd involved in jailhouse altercation

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Orange County Corrections Department is investigating an incident involving Markeith Loyd and Orange County correction officers.

According to the Orange County Corrections Department, the convicted cop killer was involved in an incident with corrections officers on Friday, Feb. 25.

The officers involved in the altercation sought medical attention and are recovering.

The incident is currently under review and no report is available at this time, officers said.

An Orange County judge found Loyd competent on Thursday to proceed with sentencing.

Loyd was found guilty of murdering Orlando police Lt. Debra Clayton in November.

The judge ruled Loyd can be sentenced Thursday, March 3.
