D23: What to expect, how to watch

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — The future of Disney magic, including the local theme parks, is expected to be revealed this weekend.

D23, billed as the largest Disney fan event in the world, celebrates everything The Walt Disney Company has to offer including Disney, Marvel, Pixar and more across film, television and its theme parks here in Central Florida and across the rest of the globe.

The event takes place at the Anaheim Convention Center in California on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Over the years, major announcements have been made at D23 about upcoming film projects and new attractions that are heading to Walt Disney World in the coming years, and this year should be no exception.

With big projects including TRON Lightcycle/Run at Magic Kingdom and the Moana-inspired attraction Journey of Water at EPCOT on the horizon at Disney World, we may be in for some major news this weekend.

While it’s sold out in person, Disney fans in Central Florida can still hear any news break from their own homes because portions of D23 will be streamed live online.

Panels and presentations, live interviews, celebrity moments and special announcements will all be streamed online starting at 1 p.m. local time Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Disney Parks fans eager for some news on future projects will be especially interested in seeing the presentation “A Boundless Future: Disney Parks, Experience and Products” set for 1:30 p.m. local time.

The panel promises “announcements and updates on the magic happening around the world in parks, on the high seas, at home, and beyond.”
