Last month, crews began tearing the building down. However, some neighbors say the work has been sporadic and inconsistent, and they worry it will not get done in time for hurricane season.

City officials expect the resort to be demolished by June 2. Officials also told Channel 9 that the contractor has had issues with its crawler overheating, causing delays.

The city said it’s now approved the contractor to work seven days a week in order to speed things up, and that things will get done on time.

Some residents have expressed concerns if the demolition isn’t done in time for hurricane season.

The city said it could revoke the development agreement if the work is not done in time.

“We’re happy to share that demolition is back underway after we overcame a minor mechanical issue earlier in the project,” the contractor said in a statement about the demolition progress. “We’re glad to be facilitating this community improvement in the safest and timeliest manner possible.”
