OCALA, Fla. — New court documents reveal a massive amount of drugs may have been making its way into Ocala every week from Mexico.
Channel 9 found out meth was seized from a home on Highway 27 and so far, three people have been arrested.
Drug Enforcement Administration agents received a tip the main suspect was bringing 5 to 10 kilograms of methamphetamine a week into Ocala.
When investigators obtained a warrant, they said they found 6 kilograms inside a home on Highway 27, and much of it was in a child’s bedroom.
According to agents, 20 kilograms of methamphetamine a week was making its way from a supplier in Mexico toward Atlanta, and along the way, between 5 and 10 kilograms were dropped off with the supplier’s nephew, Abraham Mateos, in Ocala.
Undercover agents met with Mateos at a nearby gas station, where they said he told them he gets 10 kilograms at a time, and was looking to sell them for $18,000 apiece, and trade some for kilograms of cocaine.
Some of the drugs were being stored in a stroller inside a child’s bedroom.
Agents arrested Mateos, his wife and another man suspected of helping prepare the drugs.
Mateos, who has some minor crimes on his record, told investigators he was just getting paid for the use of his house, and got into it because he lost his job as a painter and owed child support.
The three suspects are being held in jail without bond.
