VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A deadly crash shut down a stretch of southbound I-95 in Volusia County early Thursday morning.
12 p.m. update:
All southbound lanes of I-95 reopened to traffic shortly before noon on Thursday.
State troopers said the incident involved two tractor-trailers and a deer.
FHP said the series of events began when the driver of one of those semi-trucks struck the deer, causing his truck to become disabled.
Investigators said the truck was stopped on the outside travel lane with hazard lights flashing. That’s when troopers said the driver of a second semi was unable to slow down in time. His truck slammed into the rear of the stopped semi and became engulfed in fire, officials said. That driver, 57, of Jacksonville, died at the crash site.
The driver of the disabled truck, 59, of Cape Canaveral, was unhurt, according to FHP.
The deadly crash remains under investigation.

Florida Highway Patrol is reporting a deadly crash on Interstate-95 near Ormond Beach.
State troopers responded around 3 a.m. to the crash along I-95 Southbound in the area of mile marker 275.
As of 4 a.m., FHP reported complete shutdown of all southbound lanes.
A Florida Department of Transportation camera showed what appeared to be wreckage and law enforcement on scene causing roadblock along I-95 SB.
WFTV has reached out to FHP for more details about the fatal crash and the road closure.
