DeLand Black Heritage Trail set to open with self-guided tours

DELAND, Fla. — Ready to take a walk through history? Get those walking shoes or bike ready as the DeLand Black Heritage Trail will debut on April 16 from 2 - 5 p.m.

Cyclists and pedestrians can immerse themselves in a learning journey as the trail is self-guided.

With over 18 sites around Downtown DeLand, cyclists, pedestrians, or even motorists can learn about DeLand’s Black heritage sites and other destinations that honor African American heritage.

The celebration will feature storytellers, vendors, and food trucks.

Families can pick up a family-friendly cycling tour map and enjoy a Sunday afternoon of games, prizes, and activities for children.

Copies of the Black Heritage Trail guide will be available at the event and can be downloaded here.
