DELAND, Fla. — The City of DeLand will unveil its first dog park Wednesday.
City commissioners and staff will open the dog park at 5:30 p.m. at Earl Brown Park.
The park, which covers about one acre, will have benches, waste bag stations and water stations.
It is divided in two sections for large and small dogs.
Officials said that more amenities could be added to the dog park in future years.
"I think this is going to be a great addition to Earl Brown Park, and I hope the community comes out and enjoys it," said Mayor Bob Apgar.
The city said it’s also installing 10 different exercise stations for people to use in Earl Brown Park. The stations should be ready for use by next week.
A news release said that “the transformation is part of a larger effort in recent years to revitalize Earl Brown Park, which has received a number of improvements including construction of the Wayne Sanborn Activity Center, replacement of the basketball courts, an amphitheater and concession/restroom facility.”
The park also includes a one-mile walking/jogging trail, pond, pavilions, playground and skateboard/bike park.
