Deputies: Man on bike shot near Orange County elementary school

Orange County deputies said a man on a dirt bike was shot Friday near an elementary school.
It happened on Texas Avenue at the Hidden Creek Villas between Americana Boulevard and Park Ridge Road.
Palmetto Elementary School is less than a mile away, but the shooting didn’t disrupt school.
There was never a lockdown because the Orange County Sheriff’s Office quickly notified the school that the gunman was caught quickly.
Deputies said an alert, armed security guard from the complex was able to detain the suspect, later identified as Julio Oquendo, 23, until deputies arrived.
“There’s multiple shell casings back there to verify this from the vehicle at the dirt bike,” said Orange County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Jeff Williamson.
First responded arrived on Rivertree Circle to find a man who had been on a dirt bike injured from the gunfire.
Residents and people in the area could not come or go as the investigation unfolded.
“Before we get the story straight, no one is going anywhere,” Williamson said.
The victim, Kijuah Brown, 26, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he is expected to recover.
In addition to Oquendo's arrest, three others were detained for questioning.
