APOPKA, Fla. — A man accused of using a counterfeit $100 bill at an Apopka convenience store was later found passed out inside a U-Haul containing used needles, according to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the 7-Eleven at 3830 E. State Road 436 at about 5:25 a.m. Tuesday after a clerk reported that someone had used a counterfeit bill to purchase merchandise.

Investigators said deputies found 41-year-old Jamal Anthony Dean passed out in the passenger seat of a U-Haul parked on a sidewalk near the store.

Deputies saw several used needles inside a large drink cup in the vehicle’s center console, according to the arrest report. A subsequent search uncovered eight additional used needles, some containing blood or other liquids.

Investigators said liquid inside one needle tested presumptive positive for cocaine, while liquid in another tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine.

Dean denied knowing about the items inside the vehicle but told investigators that he had recently injected methamphetamine, the report states.

Dean was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. His total bond on those charges was set at $6,500.

The arrest report also states that Dean had been taken into custody on allegations related to the counterfeit bill before the drug charges were filed.

The allegations against Dean have not been proven in court.
