PALM COAST, Fla. — Both dog parks at James F. Holland Memorial Park have temporarily closed after the city learned of a reported canine parvovirus case involving a dog that regularly visited the small dog park.

The city announced the precautionary closures Wednesday. Parks maintenance crews will apply disinfectant treatments to both the small and large dog areas.

A reopening date has not been announced.

Guidance for pet owners

The city urged owners whose dogs recently visited either area to contact a veterinarian if they have concerns about possible exposure.

Officials also reminded visitors to follow posted park rules and keep their dogs’ vaccinations up to date.

The announcement did not establish where the affected dog contracted the virus.

Alternative dog parks remain available

During the closures, the city directed residents to the dog parks at Lehigh Trailhead, 1350 Belle Terre Parkway.

Reopening updates will be posted on the city’s Holland Park webpage.
