Drive-by shooting under investigation in Titusville

TITUSVILLE , Fla. — Titusville police detectives are investigating a drive-by shooting that happened Friday afternoon.

It happened around 2:45 p.m. Officers responded to reports of shots fired near Hopkins Avenue and Roosevelt Street.

According to the preliminary investigation, the victim, an adult male, and another man were walking on the east side of Hopkins Avenue when the suspect, or suspects, driving an unidentified vehicle heading northbound on Hopkins Avenue fired several shots in their direction, police said.

The victim was located near the shooting crime scene with an apparent gunshot wound and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident was not random, according to preliminary evidence.

The investigation is ongoing and more details will be released later, police said. Anyone with information is urged to call Titusville Police Department at 321-264-7800 or can remain anonymous and call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS and be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
