A dump truck carrying about 70,000 pounds of dirt overturned early Thursday, spilling its load across a Central Florida highway and forcing the road to close for several hours.
The crash happened around midnight on State Road 471 south of State Road 50, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the dump truck was traveling north on SR-471 when the 38-year-old Plant City man behind the wheel lost control.
The truck overturned, dumping dirt and debris across the roadway.
Photos released by FHP show the truck lying on its side and a large amount of dirt scattered across both lanes.
The driver was not injured, troopers said.
SR-471 remained closed while crews cleared the roadway and reopened around 4 a.m.
