SEE: EPCOT’s newest night-time show ‘Harmonious’ will take Disney’s vision ‘to the next chapter’

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The World Showcase Lagoon surrounding EPCOT will soon come alive every night with a dazzling array of lights and music that celebrates the world’s diversity in a big way.

“Harmonious” officially kicks Oct. 1 in tandem with Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration. The show is a years-long labor of love for Disney’s creative teams.

The show will move through three distinct chapters, Disney said, and invite us to gather on the shores of World Showcase Lagoon and celebrate the countries and cultures of the world to create a bright tomorrow.

Variations of memorable tunes from Disney classics such as “Aladdin,” “The Jungle Book,” Mulan,” “Brave” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” will be played across hundreds of speakers.

“It’s Walt’s vision; here at Walt Disney World, this is where dreams come true,” said Clint Clarke, an audio designer with Disney for a decade who has worked on “Harmonious” for more than four years. “This is one of those places where it’s all about sparking that dream and inspiring the future. This show will take it it to the next chapter.”

Though the live stream will be available, Clarke insists that “this is a show you have to come experience at EPCOT.”

“Videos will do it as a great teaser; it’ll show you the beauty, but the magnitude of just being in the park and actually feeling it as it comes to life — second to none.”

In addition to “Harmonious” on Wednesday, Disney on Thursday will host a live stream for its nighttime show “Disney Enchantment” from Magic Kingdom.

Kartika Rodriguez, vice president of EPCOT, said she’s “extremely excited” about the show, saying it’s one of her “favorites” and the “largest spectacular Disney has ever put on.”

“I think our guests are going to be wowed by it,” she said. “It has beautiful pyro(technics), it has beautiful Disney music that’s tied to some of our favorite movies, the lasers, everything.”
