Squeak peek: Disney World prepares to open Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at Epcot

BAY LAKE, Fla. — Channel 9 got a “squeak peek” at Disney World’s newest ride, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, at EPCOT on Friday.

It’s the first new ride at the park in more than five years and the first new ride at Walt Disney World since March 2020, right before the pandemic shutdown.

The ride is based on the 2007 Pixar movie “Ratatouille” and follows much of the plot of the film.

The ride’s queue recreates a French restaurant, with guests eventually boarding a six-person ride car that is shaped like a little rat head.

The cars move around based on sensors embedded in the floor, and there is no ride track as guests take in the sights, sounds and smells of a Parisian restaurant.

This technology, coupled with 3-D elements, gives an immersive experience while also allowing the park to change the experience with minimal effort.

For EPCOT, the new ride is part of keeping with Walt Disney’s original version of EPCOT as a place that is always growing and always changing.

There will be new merchandise to go along with the ride, including mouse ears -- or, technically, Remy’s rat ears.

The ride will open on Oct. 1, but cast member previews have already started. Passholder previews of the ride start this month.
