Fatal Orange County shootings may be connected

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — It's been two-and-a-half weeks since gunfire erupted in two different communities killing two men.

Both cases are unsolved, but police are looking into the possibility that both killings are connected.

A 49-year-old man was gunned down outside Big B’s convenience store on Westmoreland Drive Oct. 25.

There’s a new composite sketch of a potential suspect.

Orlando police are working the case by passing out Orange County Sheriff’s Office case information, because authorities believe there's a chance the suspect is connected to violent crime across the community.

Updated: ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando police said they are investigating a shooting Tuesday night that killed one man and injured two others. Police responded to the 700 block of Westmoreland Drive after several people called 911 to report a shooting.

A woman, who asked not to be identified, said stray bullets from the deadly shooting last month landed in her front yard.

“That bullet could have went through my window and hit my daughter,” she said.

While the bullet did not strike her daughter, it did hit Rodney Watts, who died at the scene.

Orlando police spent Thursday in Orange County’s jurisdiction trying to solve that shooting.

They passed out fliers highlighting cases from another agency, including the Strictly Skills barber shop shooting that killed shop owner, Brian Berry.

The sheriff's office provided a new composite of the gunman in the barber shop homicide to Crimeline, which appeared on the flier police passed out in the county's jurisdiction.

Police said a car used in the barbershop shooting matches descriptions of the car used in the shooting that killed Watts.

Two agencies may be looking for the same man.

“Most people, they don’t want to say anything, but next time, that bullet could have been for you,” said a woman, who also asked not to be identified. “That was somebody’s dad, uncle, cousin, brother, grandfather.”
