ORLANDO, Fla. — The Atlantic tropics remain active with two areas of interest being watched, but neither system currently poses a threat to the United States.
Tropical Depression Fay continues to spin over the Atlantic, although the system is expected to weaken and fizzle out by the middle of the week.
This would mark the second time Fay has dissipated after briefly re-forming.
Meteorologists are also watching an area of low pressure designated Invest 91L, located more than 500 miles northwest of Fay in the northern Atlantic.
For now, Invest 91L is producing a disorganized batch of showers and thunderstorms.
However, conditions could become more favorable for organization over the next 48 hours.
The National Hurricane Center gives Invest 91L a 80% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone over the next seven days.
Even if development occurs, there is currently no indication of a threat to the U.S. Invest 91L is expected to continue moving away from the United States.
For now, residents can simply keep an eye on the tropics as both systems remain well away from the U.S. coastline.
