GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida agricultural producers and private forest landowners can apply for federal funding to improve conservation efforts on their properties.

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service is accepting fiscal year 2027 applications through Oct. 30 for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program and Conservation Stewardship Program.

The Environmental Quality Incentives Program helps fund projects designed to improve soil, water, wildlife habitat and other natural resources on working lands.

The Conservation Stewardship Program supports producers who want to expand existing conservation practices across their operations.

The agency has established $50,000 payment caps for high tunnel systems, bivalve aquaculture gear and biofouling control, and mulching projects.

Applicants must have control of the land through ownership, a lease or another legal agreement. They must also establish or update their records with the Farm Service Agency and meet other eligibility requirements.

Applications are accepted throughout the year, but those submitted after Oct. 30 will be considered during a future funding cycle.

Landowners can apply through Farmers.gov or contact a local USDA Service Center for assistance.
