Florida gas prices fall to lowest price point in nearly seven weeks

ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida gas prices have fallen to their lowest point in nearly seven weeks.

AAA said the average price for a gallon of gas in Florida is $2.79.

That’s 12 cents less than late March, when the state’s gas prices were the highest this year.

AAA reported high fuel demand and improved refinery operations are helping push gas prices lower.

“Gasoline demand remains strong, but what has helped push gas prices lower is improved refinery operations,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA - The Auto Club Group. “Refineries struggled through much of February and early March, after harsh winter weather caused mass power outages. Those refineries are mostly back up to full operation. They’re now pumping out gasoline at a rate not seen since autumn.”
