Florida Hospital unveils resort-style rehab facility under construction in Celebration

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Hospital officials on Thursday unveiled a skilled nursing facility under construction in Osceola County’s Celebration development.

The 120-bed Adventist Care Center will feature a modern, hospitality-themed design, providing both short- and long-term rehabilitation for patients once they leave the hospital.

The 85,000-square-foot facility will include a 4,000-square-foot gym for physical and occupational therapy and offer services such as intravenous therapy, pain management and speech therapy.

“This is somebody's home for that period of time, so we are respectful of that,” board member Sandra Johnson said. “We have things like beauty services, and we have activities that we can do on-site or maybe field trips.”

The center will have a residential or hotel-like feel, offering recovering patients a more affordable alternative to a lengthy hospital stay.

“We have a place where they can sit on the back patio and watch the fireworks at Disney every single night,” Johnson said.

The facility is expected to open in April 2018, and a similar one is planned for Lake County.
