ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida’s first sales-tax holiday for tools and construction items is now underway.
The seven-day holiday is part of a package Gov. Ron DeSantis signed in May.
Some of the items exempt from sales tax include power tools and toolboxes for vehicles that cost up to $300, and work boots that cost $175 or less.
“It’s really targeted toward skilled workers, but all Floridians can benefit from the holiday,” said Scott Shalley, president of the Florida Retail Federation. “The parameters are a wide range of items related to the skilled working trades.”
State economists have projected the tool-time holiday will reduce state revenue by nearly $10 million.
The sales-tax holiday will run through Friday.
