Florida reports 133 new coronavirus-related deaths, marking state’s deadliest day of pandemic

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health reported its highest number of COVID-19-related deaths in a single day on Tuesday.

Officials said there were an additional 133 deaths, bringing the state’s death toll to 4,514.

That’s nearly four times the number of fatalities reported on Monday.

While there was a spike in deaths, health officials reported a decrease in the number of new cases of COVID-19 compared to a day earlier.

On Tuesday, the total number of positive tests was 9,194, down from Monday’s increase of 12,624.

Of the deaths, 24 were reported in Central Florida including 10 in Polk County, six in Osceola County, five in Brevard County, two in Orange County and one in Seminole County.
