Florida reports 179 deaths linked to COVID-19, another 2,500 cases of the virus

ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida reported a total of 2,541 new coronavirus cases on Thursday and 179 additional deaths statewide.

Of the latest deaths, 38 were reported in Central Florida including 11 in Lake County, six each in Volusia, Brevard and Polk counties, four in Osceola County, three in Marion County and two in Orange County.

“Coronavirus

The state’s total death toll is now 13,961 with 13,795 of those being Florida resident deaths.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Florida since the pandemic began totals 693,040.

To date, the number of negative tests recorded by state health officials totals 4,486,459, an increase of 20,978 since Wednesday.

Orange:    39,560 (+148) - 440 deaths (+2)

Osceola: 12,288 (+39)- 144 deaths (+4)

Seminole: 8,909 (-2) – 207 deaths (+0)

Polk: 19,551 (+99)– 520 deaths (+6)

Volusia: 10,689 (+38)  - 238 deaths (+6)

Brevard: 8,636 (+58) - 290 deaths (+6)

Flagler:  1,704 (+17) - 23 deaths (0)

Lake: 7,394 (+29) – 184 deaths (+11)

Marion: 9,590 (+49) - 266 deaths (+3)

Sumter: 2,205 (+9) -  65 deaths (0)
