Florida reports 6,323 new COVID-19 cases, 74 virus-related deaths Saturday

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health reported 6,323 new COVID-19 cases Saturday.

This is less than the 7,296 cases added Friday and 6,762 Thursday.

Of the new cases reported Saturday, 1,428 were in Central Florida.

State records show 2,162,067 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Florida since the start of the pandemic.

State health officials also reported 74 virus-related deaths Saturday.

Of the new deaths reported, nine were in Central Florida. Lake County added the most deaths with three people.

State records show 35,074 virus-related deaths have been recorded in the state since the start of the pandemic.

Health officials have confirmed that coronavirus has led to the death of 3 million people worldwide with the actual number believed to be much higher because of concealed numbers and cases in the early stages of the outbreak being overlooked.

COVID-19 vaccination efforts also continue across the state.

Records show 12,210,832 vaccine doses have been administered in Florida.

Including single and both shots, 7,823,859 people have received a vaccine in the state.
