Woman arrested in multi-state ‘tomb raider’ case, 2 suspects still wanted

The sheriff’s office is encouraging anyone with a loved one resting in a cemetery niche to check that any personal items left with the deceased remain in place

‘Tomb Raiders’ wanted after allegedly stealing family heirlooms from cemeteries

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A woman wanted in connection with a multistate cemetery theft investigation has been arrested, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said 52-year-old Angela Garrett was taken into custody and is facing multiple charges, including injuring or removing a tomb or monument, disturbing the contents of a grave or tomb, and grand theft over $20,000.

Garrett was one of three suspects accused of traveling across the country and targeting cemetery niches containing cremated remains, stealing jewelry and other family heirlooms left with loved ones.

The Sheriff’s Office previously identified the other suspects as Drake Lee Milam, 33, and Porsche Bancroft, 32. Investigators said the trio is believed to have committed similar crimes in multiple states, including Florida.

The case drew widespread attention after authorities alleged the suspects broke into niches and stole sentimental items, such as wedding rings and other valuables, that families had placed with deceased relatives.

Despite Garrett’s arrest, investigators said the case remains active as detectives continue searching for Milam and Bancroft. Authorities also believe additional victims may exist.

The sheriff’s office is encouraging anyone with a loved one resting in a cemetery niche to check that any personal items left with the deceased remain in place.

Anyone with information about the case, the whereabouts of the remaining suspects, or who believes they may be a victim is asked to contact Central Florida Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
