PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — A foundation supporting young golfers at an academy with a Florida campus says it has awarded $2.1 million in scholarships to help families afford academic and athletic training.
The Golf Performance Academy Foundation provides financial assistance for students attending the academy’s campuses in Port St. Lucie and Ridgefield, Connecticut.
According to the foundation’s announcement, the assistance helps students access golf coaching, physical and mental performance training, and academic preparation as they work toward playing college golf.
Graduates join college golf programs
The academy said nine members of its Class of 2026 are on collegiate men’s and women’s golf rosters, including programs at Charleston Southern, Lipscomb and Towson universities.
Among them is Callahan Harrell, whom Charleston Southern lists as a freshman on its 2026-27 men’s golf roster.
“My dream since I was a young kid has been to play college golf,” Harrell said in the academy’s announcement.
Harrell credited his family and a foundation scholarship with helping him attend the academy.
Academy CEO Lee-Anne Gilchrist said students used the training resources, competed in tournaments and worked toward earning opportunities at the college level.
Foundation seeks to expand financial assistance
The Connecticut-based nonprofit said its mission is to support junior golfers whose families could not otherwise afford the academy’s training.
Executive Director Kim Polley Genzburg said the foundation wants students’ opportunities to reflect their talent, drive and character rather than their families’ financial circumstances.
The foundation is building a $20 million endowment to sustain its financial assistance program, according to the announcement.
