NAPLES, Fla. — Affordable housing developers will receive new incentives to build homes in Florida starting this year.
Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the Live Local Act into law in Naples on Wednesday morning.

The state will set aside more than $700 million for projects through the Florida Finance Corporation.
That includes more than $100 million for housing programs and incentives to renovate older apartments.
The governor said this will help bring more housing to the state.
“You wanna work somewhere close to where you live. Not have to commute an hour. Uh, this is gonna be able to incentive more options,” DeSantis said.
The act also prohibits local governments from imposing rent control under any circumstance.
This comes two months after Orange County approved a Tenant Bill of Rights to manage relationships with landlords.
