ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida is in for another sweltering day Friday, with temperatures climbing into the mid-90s and dangerously high heat index values expected across the region.
Heat Advisories have been issued again for all of Central Florida as the combination of heat and humidity could make it feel like 100 to 110 degrees during the afternoon.
The heat won’t let up anytime soon. The current forecast calls for the heat wave to continue through the weekend, with afternoon temperatures remaining in the mid- to upper 90s.
A few late-afternoon showers and thunderstorms are possible Friday, with a 40% chance of rain.
Any storms that develop could bring brief, heavy rain and gusty winds, but the rain will not provide much relief from the overall heat.
The combination of extreme heat and humidity can increase the risk of heat-related illness.
Those spending time outdoors should drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks in air conditioning or shade, and avoid prolonged strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.
