BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Newly released Indialantic Police body camera video shows the growing concern over Colie Lee Daniel’s disappearance in March. Daniel’s parents tracked his smartwatch to the Watson Drive home of 19-year-old Lucas Jones on March 20.
Police initially went to the home for a welfare check, but did not find Daniel. Investigators later determined Daniel had likely met Jones through a dating app. Daniel’s car was found near Jones’ residence.
As the search for Daniel continued, Flock camera data showed a maroon Honda Accord linked to Jones’ girlfriend repeatedly traveling toward an area of Palm Bay known as the Compound, less than a day after Daniel disappeared.
March 28, police were called about a suitcase containing human remains near J.A. Bombardier Boulevard in the Compound. A duffel bag with additional remains was also located.
Investigators also found an Amazon package addressed to Jones in that bag. Those remains were later identified as Colie Daniel.
In May, a grand jury indicted Jones on a murder charge of first-degree murder. Jones was also indicted on charges of abuse of a dead human body, tampering with physical evidence related to a capital felony, and improper disposal of a human body.
