According to investigators, on Thursday, detectives with the Daytona-area investigative unit were notified by the FBI about an Instagram post threatening gun violence against the president.
Volusia Crime Center personnel quickly identified the person allegedly responsible for the post as Allison Jeanne Albro, 21.
Detectives and agents with the U.S. Secret Service went to Albro’s Daytona Beach residence to investigate.
Authorities say Albro admitted to making the Instagram post but claimed it was a joke.
Investigators said Albro told them she did not own a firearm and had no intention of harming anyone.
Albro was arrested and charged with written threats to kill.
She was booked with no bond, according to the information provided by investigators.
Authorities also conducted a consensual search of the residence. No firearms, ammunition or related accessories were found.
The investigation involved local detectives, the FBI, the Volusia Crime Center and the U.S. Secret Service.
Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood shared a photo on his social media showing the alleged threat.
“We are not going to tolerate threats to assassinate the president,” Chitwood said.
