Sheriff urges nonattendees to avoid the area
In a social media post Friday morning, Chitwood and the Volusia Sheriff’s Office urged anyone not attending the rally to avoid the area around the Ocean Center.
Attention ‼️ Daytona Beach residents and visitors: Expect significant road blocks, traffic closure and strict security measures for Friday's presidential rally at the Ocean Center. If you are not attending Friday's event, we strongly advise that you avoid the area. Road closures around the Ocean Center will make travel through the area impossible for an extended timeframe. More specifics will be posted later today, but the bottom line is this: Expect delays and restrictions. @VolusiaSheriff has been working closely with our partners at the @SecretService, @DaytonaBchPD and surrounding agencies to coordinate all the resources it takes to make this event possible. Safety is the priority, and it takes all of us working together. Another key part of this effort is you. Daytona Beach knows how to handle high-profile events. Your patience and cooperation with law enforcement during this event is very much appreciated, and will contribute to a safe and secure outcome for our community!
