DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Thousands of supporters are gathering in Daytona Beach on Friday as President Donald Trump holds a campaign rally ahead of next week’s midterm elections.
The rally is being held at the Ocean Center, where Trump is expected to take the stage Friday evening. The venue has about 9,300 seats.
Trump is campaigning for several Florida Republican candidates ahead of Election Day on Nov. 3, including Byron Donalds, who is running for governor, U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody and U.S. Rep. Randy Fine.
Doors for the rally opened at 3:30 p.m., with Trump expected to speak at 7 p.m.
Daytona Beach police warned drivers to expect increased traffic and road closures surrounding the event. Atlantic Avenue is scheduled to be closed between Oak Ridge Boulevard and Main Street from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., while other roads around the venue will also be affected.
Trump’s Daytona Beach appearance comes as Republicans make a final campaign push ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections.
