H.S. security guard charged with sex crimes against child remains jailed on $15K bail

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orange County school security guard remains in jail in lieu of $15,000 bail Saturday.

Patrick Collins, who is married, was arrested and charged with sexual crimes involving a child.

On his Facebook page, Collins appears to be a happy family man.

But, in an arrest affidavit, deputies describe Collins as a man who abused his power and followed a student younger than 16 years old into a bathroom, and kissed and touched the child's "private area."

Deputies said the student met Collins in September of last year during volleyball season, and claims the following month, he fondled the student in the bathroom.

The affidavit stated that later, Collins drove to meet for a sexual encounter in his car, just blocks away from the school.

Deputies said the two also exchanged nude photos.

The allegations surfaced six months after the accuser said the incidents happened, when someone told a teacher what happened.

Collins became a licensed security guard in the state of Florida in May 2012.

He started working at Evans High School last April.

On Friday, a judge ordered Collins to "stay away from Evans High School."

The school has placed Collins on leave with pay, pending their internal investigation.
