OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A man accused of killing three people at an Osceola County Airbnb was found competent to stand trial on Thursday.
A judge ruled that 29-year-old Ahmad Bojeh is mentally competent to face the triple murder charges he is facing.
Bojeh is accused of killing three tourists in the Indian Point subdivision near Kissimmee on January 17, 2026.
The victims were James Puchan, 68; Douglas Kraft, 68; and Robert Kraft, 70. They were in Central Florida for the Mecum car show and were staying at a vacation rental when their rental car broke down.
They were outside waiting for a replacement vehicle when the shooting occurred.
Deputies received 911 calls shortly after 12:13 p.m. and found all three men shot outside the rental property.
Bojeh, who lived next door, was arrested roughly an hour later.
Sheriff Christopher Blackmon described the killings as random, cold-blooded and without an apparent conflict between Bojeh and the victims.
Surveillance and court records later obtained added more detail.
Investigators said Bojeh was seen pacing outside his home shortly before the shooting.
They allege he opened fire, returned to the scene minutes later and fired two additional rounds before retrieving a magazine and going back home.
Investigators also said he changed clothes and that two firearms were found hidden under a mattress.
During a two-hour hearing Thursday, a judge said Bojeh was compliant with his medications and that his diagnosed schizophrenia disorder was in partial remission.
It came after mental health experts testified that Bojeh appeared to be faking lack of knowledge on the legal system.
Prosecutors pointed out Bojeh was familiar with the criminal justice system because back in 2022, Bojeh was found not guilty of attempted murder by reason of insanity for a completely different shooting.
He was released conditionally and ordered not to have access to guns, to follow a treatment plan, and to take medication prescribed by Park Place Behavioral Health Center where Bojeh was to receive outpatient services.
Court documents obtained by Channel 9 say Bojeh stopped taking his medications in June of 2025, about a year and a half before the victims were murdered.
Since the shooting on January 17th, Bojeh has been held at the Osceola County Jail. Mental health experts say his symptoms have been well managed since resuming medications there.
Still during a mental health evaluation with Psychaitrist Dr. Jeffrey Danziger, Bokeh claimed to have almost no knowledge of the legal system.
“ This was someone with previous experience with the justice system who when I met with him, he demonstrated almost complete ignorance of even the most basic aspects of the legal system,” said Danziger.
Danziger and another psychologist said Bojeh scored in the single digits on a 61-question true-false test about the legal system, far lower than he should have scored even if his guesses were completely random.
“The only reasonable explanation for a score that low somebody knew many of the right answers and consciously and deliberately provided the wrong ones,” said Danziger.
The psychologist suggested the motivation was to delay a trial.
The Judge ultimately decided Bojeh was competent to proceed, and a hearing was scheduled for November 17, at 1:30 pm.
The victims’ family sent Channel 9 the following statement:
“First, we are immensely grateful for all the hard work by ASA Peter Donnelly and his entire team. This is a just result and we can only hope that the assailant and his attorneys will now minimize our suffering, acknowledge guilt, and bring an expedient end to the criminal aspect of this tragedy. But as we’ve always said, this was entirely preventable and Justice extends to Tallahassee and the civil courtroom.” - Kraft and Puchan families
