SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — The trial is underway for a man accused of murdering his estranged wife three years ago in Seminole County.
In August 2011, deputies found Sarah Rucker’s body outside the former Miami Subs restaurant near State Road 434 and Interstate 4.
Investigators said Rucker's estranged husband, Dwayne White, beat her, stabbed her in the neck and then dumped her body.
In the months leading up to her death, Rucker, a mother, made several 911 calls reporting her estranged husband to authorities.
“I ran around the car, and he pushed me down and threw a bottle of Heineken at me because he was drinking,” she told dispatchers in one call.
Reports show prosecutors have DNA evidence, a slew of domestic violence reports and people who witnessed the explosive fights.
In one instance, Rucker told deputies that White was “going to kill her” and that she was “as good as dead.”
That happened six months before two people stumbled upon her body in a pool of blood.
Investigators said Rucker's last call to 911 was made hours before her death.
Investigators charged White because they said there was forensic evidence tying him to the murder.
Authorities said the history of domestic issues between Rucker and White also had deputies zeroing in on him.
Jury selection for the trial started Monday. Prosecutors said they expect the case to move swiftly.
