LEESBURG, Fla. — Residents, staff, and visitors at Lake Port Square raised $500 for the Alzheimer’s Association during a World Alzheimer’s Day fundraiser. The event featured lemonade and snow cones set up outside the senior living community’s Health Care Center.

Hosted by Lake Port Square’s associate-led Culture Club, the gathering offered regular and blackberry lemonade alongside various snow cone flavors. The event provided educational materials on Alzheimer’s disease and highlighted ongoing research, advocacy, and care initiatives.

Executive director Markus Buettner praised the community for supporting the fundraiser.

“Events like this show what is possible when our residents and associates come together behind a cause that is so meaningful to so many,” Buettner said. “We are proud of the $500 we raised for the Alzheimer’s Association and grateful to everyone who participated and helped make the event a success.”

In addition to the fundraiser, staff members purchased purple shirts to support the initiative. Associates gathered at an all-staff meeting later that week to tie-dye the apparel.

Associates will wear the tie-dyed purple shirts to represent Lake Port Square at the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s in The Villages later this month.
